metal separators Metal Separators - SEP-1D

Plastic resins. Sugar. Pelletized chemicals. Flour. Pharmaceuticals. Cement Powder. All those and countless other dry ingredients can get contaminated with stray metal which can damage equipment, cause product defects or shut down production.

Tramp metal is present in most resin supplies and one piece can bring the whole production process to a grinding halt. Our metal separators will keep your production process running and the same benefits can be realized in any industry using mixers, cutters, grinders, etc.

More Than Magnets

The patented Guardian SEP-1D Metal Separator, incorporates refinements derived from over 20 years of use in American plants. It removes all types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals including stainless steel, brass and aluminum. Guardian's unique electronic detector reacts to pieces as small as 0.5 mm by employing a high sensitivity inductance system like those used in airports. Other devices based on magnetism can isolate only ferrous metals which lack the uniform detection field of the SEP-1D. Because of this, and the frequent need for cleaning, magnets allow metal to pass through the process. However, the Guardian's uniform detection field prevents scrap metal from continuing through the process and there are no cleaning requirements.

Functional Simplicity

All that's required for successful operation is free flowing material which is predominantly non-metallic.

Because the SEP-1D has a stainless steel flow passage which requires no periodic cleaning, it's ideal for use with foodstuffs and chemicals alike. It can be used as a separate device on a batch basis, or it can be built into line processing equipment as an integral component of bulk material flow system. Various combinations of flow rate and sensitivities will meet almost any plant demand.

The quiet operation and low maintenance makes it easy to forget about your tramp metal problems.

Sequence Of Operation

1. Material flows by gravity into the SEP-1D and through the sensing ring, unimpeded, unless metal is detected.
2. When metal as small as 0.5 mm passes through the sensing ring, the detector circuit actuates and the ultra-high speed mechanism that diverts the material flow containing the metal into a separate container.
3. As soon as the metal is diverted, the flow returns to its original position and processing continues.
